In Case You Missed It - Super Week Recap!

Super Sunday is the Federation’s biggest fundraiser of the year. This year, we took Super Sunday and expanded it to a Super Week of events for the community! We partnered with JCrew of the Shimon and Sara Birnbuam Jewish Community Center to create over a hundred handmade holiday cards for both U.S. and IDF soldiers. JCrew students also had the opportunity to sample some Israeli cuisine and experience Israeli dancing at an Israeli Zumba session. The Federation joined forces with Jewish Family Service on Giving Tuesday to enjoy a bowl of soup and educate the community on the issue of food insecurity and social isolation among the elderly here in our own neighborhoods.

Leaders of the community came together for “Uncork Your Support” on Wednesday, to enjoy a glass of wine and make phone calls on behalf of the community. Through their dedication over $20,000 in pledges were raised that night! On Thursday night, we let our creative juices flow. People came to paint a rock, and write an inspirational quote on it. The Federation will have them on display in the office, and we welcome visitors to ‘re-home’ them anywhere in the community to lift the spirits of someone who needs some joy in their day.

Of course, our Super Week would not be complete without Super Sunday. With the help of all of our volunteers, the Federation was able to surpass the day’s fundraising goal with ease! Every gift provided throughout Super Week, on Super Sunday and throughout the year has a significant and direct impact on the lives of Jews in need wherever they are around the world, including here in Somerset, Hunterdon & Warren Counties. One other important thing accomplished on Super Sunday was finding out who in our community may need help with specific difficulties in their lives. The volunteers often find out many things about members of the community that we would not learn without calling them. Due to this, with their help, the Federation has been able to provide assistance to a number of new people this week alone.

We must thank all of our “Superhero” volunteers once again. The priceless gift of their time is something that we value very much! We also would like to thank all of our wonderful sponsors – without their help, Super Week would not have been possible: JCrew of SSBJCC, Unity Bank of Somerville, Jewish Family Service, Zoup! of Flemington, Wegmans of Bridgewater, Evelyn and David Rauch, Stone Center of Bridgewater, Deli King of Clark, Verve, Sandy and Harold Krawitz, Michael Saul, PNC Wealth Management, Hansel & Griddle, Starbucks Coffee of Bridgewater, and JFit Club.

While Super Week is over, our Annual Campaign continues. It is never too late to make a difference – make your Annual Campaign donation today! Visit www.jfedshaw.org/donate to make an impact.
